Cerrado is a very important biome in Brazil, responsible for most water sources. It is being threatened by agriculture and the planting of eucalyptus for cutting. The Pequi is a typical tree in this biome and this painting is inspired by a photograph of a Pequi surviving surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Capoeira means a clearing in the woods and also a fight for enslaved Africans in Brazil.
